The Ryder Cup started in 1927 as a competition between the US and Great Britain held every two years. Since 1979 it has been a Europe team against the US. In 1989 Europe were 14-10 with four matches to play when the Americans won the remaining matches resulting in a draw, 14-14. For only the second time in its history it ended in a draw, but Europe retained the Cup as they had won in 1987.
The great Jack Nicklaus won 18 Majors over a 25-year career, four more than Tiger Woods and seven more than Walter Hagan. He won the Masters six times, The US Open and British Open four times each, and the PGA Championship five times.
The hardest hole is a subjective answer, but there are some worthy contenders. Cape Kidnappers course in New Zealand has majestic scenery but take care on the 15th which has a 140-meter cliff on the left. The 19th hole at the Legend Golf course in South Africa can only be reached by helicopter with the tee 1200 feet above the green. Also worthy of mention is the Pebble Beach 8th hole, a cliff-side hole where wind and rain increase the difficulty, or the iconic 12th hole at Augusta National where so many players have had their dreams crushed.
